High tooth after root canal

Hello!

I had a root canal done through a crown two weeks ago. What bothers me is that, my tooth is so high. When I close my mouth, it would touch the opposing tooth. The endo who did the root canal does not want to adjust my bite because he might ruin the crown. He said the tooth would eventually go down on its own once the swelling goes down. How long will this take? What can I do to help with the high feeling? I have been taking Ibuprofen but it only helps with the inflammation and tender feeling. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not much you can do except wait for healing. This is one of the big problems with doing root canals on crowned teeth, and trying to save the crown. On natural teeth we reduce the chewing surface so it is less prone to fracture and more comfortable for the patient during healing. On crowned teeth we cannot do this without ruining the crown.
