I recently had a root canal performed. My tongue on the side of the root canal was affected with the anesthesia and it still feels numb. When I contacted my dentist, he informed me that it would heal over time. It has been two weeks, but I still feel pain and a tingling sensation on the side where the root canal was performed, which drives me crazy. Any idea what’s causing this? Please, I need help desperately. Thank you very much.

Hello,
Numbness post anesthesia usually takes months to even years to slowly return back to normal. Two weeks is not enough to get rid of it.
Pain and tingling is most likely coming from the root canal treated tooth since it takes some time for the tooth to calm down given it was done properly and all the canals are sealed properly.
You can go back to your dentist and have them reevaluate the treatment and make sure pulp was removed completely and canals are sealed.
