Heat sensitivity in a tooth after a root canal and crown

Dear Doc,

I had a cavity in one of my molars that was filled a year ago. After it was filled, I had a lot a problem with the tooth and I ended up with a root canal treatment. After the procedure, I got a temporary crown which also gave me problems. I had pressure pain and heat sensitivity. I went back to the dentist who saw no problems on X-rays. He decided to put the permanent crown on to see if it would solve the problem but unfortunately, it didn't. I still have extreme sensitivity to heat. Cold does not hurt, though.

How can I have this extreme sensitivity to heat after a root canal and a crown? Please help!

Hello jawshock!

Sounds to me like neither of the multitude of operations you had were successful. I would get a second opinion from a dental specialist; more thoughts and professional perspective on your specific problem can only help. I do the same when I am at standstill with a problem!

All the best!
Liebe Grüße JB

Thanks for your help Doc. I followed your advice. I went to another endodontist and he saw that I still have an infection and he said I need another root canal. My face swelled for a few days but it has subsided now. I am currently on antibiotics and he booked me for a root canal next week.
