Gums turning black

Hello,

I used to be lax in my oral hygiene. For the past five years, I only brushed my teeth in the morning. I noticed that my gums have become black. I am not a smoker and drinker and for the past few months, I’ve started a good oral hygiene. Does anyone know what could this be and how can I cure it? Many thanks.

Probably is darkly stained calculus (tartar) just underneath your gumline. Have your teeth cleaned professionally.
