I started having pain over a month ago, went to a oral surgeon he saw nothing so I went to a new DDS who said my molar had a slight fracture so I had it pulled after that for a month pain was worse I had a slight dry socket. Went back still had pain oral surgeon told me to see a neurologist. I went to my DDS he said we should do root canal on tooth that was next to it. When he went in he said the nerve was dying and that should be what it was. That was 2 weeks ago and still in pain. the pain is in the gums I have no problem eating hot, cold, hero's etc but its a purning sensation it goes away if I massage it but then comes back its burning and tingles. If I keep my finger in my mounth rubbing or holding the gums it stops, can it be something that can't be scene with dental ex-rays. What kind of Dr should I see. Its not trigeminal neuralgia I have that on the other side and know what that feels like. This doesn't give me pain when I touch the gums or my face. Please help

Diagnoses like these are TOUGH! It sounds as though referred pain from the sinus could be a possibility. One way of diagnosing is to wait until the symptoms appear, then have the dentist inject various places until the bad feeling goes away.

I feel so sorry for you having a tooth extracted that was not the origin of the problem!

Yes, you will have to take some medicines so that the pain or burning sensation goes away. Only then, the doctor would be able to get to the exact reason of the pain.
