Gap between my filled molar and my gum

Hello!

I had a large cavity in my back molar. Over time, a part of this tooth was broken off. I went to the dentist five days ago to have it looked at. He cleaned the tooth, removed all the decay out and filled it. Now, I notice a gap between my molar and my gum. It seems the tooth is not sealed under and close to the gum. There is a slight recession in the gum on the outside. Is this normal or is it a sign of a badly done filling? Please advise.

Thank you in advance!

Hi there!

With the presence of a large cavity/decay, there might be a bone loss in that area. The best thing will be to go to your dentist and get evaluated.

Hello!

It sounds like something is wrong with the filling. Since the cavity is large, it is possible that food got caught in it, which resulted to bone loss. The dentist should check and fix it accordingly.
