Full mouth extraction for implants

Hi all!

About a month ago, I had full mouth extraction for immediate load implants. I was happy with the result but about a week after the procedure, I had an excessive pain on both sides of my mouth. The swelling on the right side did not go down. The swelling on the left side was gone three days after the extraction. Until now, my chin is still numb. I went back to the oral surgeon two weeks ago for check up, he took x-rays and checked on my gums. He said everything is healing fine. He asked me to continue with my antibiotics. The other day, I went to him again because I can no longer stand the pain. He numbed my mouth with Novocaine to ease the pain, but I still felt it particularly on the upper gums. He decided to remove the implants and give time for my gums to heal. This means I will be toothless for a few weeks. He gave me dentures, but my gums hurt when I tried to put them in so I decided to wear them only when I go out of the house.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? How long will it take for the gums to heal and be ready for the implants? Is there anything else I could do to help the gums heal faster? Any help or advice is great. Thank you.

Hello,
Post full mouth extractions and immediate implant placement is traumatic for the gums and pain is expected. Your jaw bones need time to heal and adjust to all these changes. Successful implant placement is also dependent to your own body and its ability to integrate the implant and also study.

It usually takes several months for the implant to be finalized where as soft tissues in our mouth that at a very high rate.
