Fractured and rotten tooth

Hello everyone!

Two years ago, I accidentally cracked a tooth while eating. It was very painful then, but after a few days, the pain went away so I just left it at that. The tooth just rotted away over time. A couple of days ago, there was an abscess formation on the gum surrounding the broken tooth. The dentist put me on a course of antibiotics. My question is, can a fractured and rotten tooth be saved? If yes, what are my options?

Thanks a lot for answering!

Hello!

Yes, a rotten tooth can be saved by a root canal therapy but the dentist will have to evaluate first how rotten it is before he decides on how to treat it.

Dear Painfulpartial,

Your dentist can give you many options but the treatment depends on how rotten it is and on what you can afford.
