Flesh grown in my premolar, what should I do?

My filled premolar tooth has started to become painful about a month ago. The dentist said, I have to undergo a root canal treatment. He removed some of the filling from the center of the tooth. It became more painful then.He put me on antibiotic for seven days. However the pain did not go away after the seven-day period. He said he cannot go on with the treatment until the pain goes away. Now the space seems hollow and there is a flesh grown in there. It hurts so bad when I touch it. What could this be? What should be done to fully heal the tooth?

Thank you so much for your time and answers.

Hi there,

It sounds like a pulp polyp to me. It can be treated by either a root canal therapy or extraction of the tooth. You should inform your dentist about this immediately.

Try rinsing with warm salt water and take some painkillers to help with the pain until you see the dentist.

You may want to seek for a second opinion. It sounds like you need a root canal treatment.
