Hi. I got a scaling done and then the doctor advised to get the cavities filled and i accepted. Now after the filling firstly my teeth has grown super sensitive which i checked is a common problem but apart from that i have a constant pain in my teeth throughout the day and even when i am asleep. i wake up in the middle of the night with excruciating pain. i tried sensodyne rapid relief, whch brings the pain down for sometime but again it starts. And i also took all the antibiotics that the doctor had prescribed. but the problem persists. it has been two weeks almost since the process was done. please advice what should i do. this pain is really intense. thank you.

The only thing to try is having the dentist try to reseal the filling. Leakage is extremely common in composite resin fillings, and is often the cause of the pain.

If this does not work it will be time for a root canal.

Though, sensitivity and pain on the teeth after filing is common problem that persist for the week but the persistence of pain too long is not a god sign. You should immediately consult your dentist as this pain might be because of allergic reactions to the material used for their fillings, such as silver. The pain also persists if the filling is not fitting properly to the tooth. In both cases, you need consultation.
