Filing a tooth down, is it possible?

Good day Doctor!

I used to have braces on a couple of years ago. After taking them off, I got my retainer but they broke after a few months and I never got them fixed. Now, my teeth had moved slightly forward. My two front teeth are longer than the rest of my teeth and it bothers me. Is it possible to get them filed down? Should I address the teeth which moved forward first before filing the two front teeth down so they can be filed evenly with the other teeth?

I appreciate your help!

Hello evanspool!

If the teeth have drifted a little, one can sand/smooth the cutting edges so to improve the dental aesthetics.

However, you should make sure your teeth won’t keep drifting further, else you will just have the same problem in a couple of months again.

You should look into using a strong retainer; a visit to an orthodontist is also recommended.

All the best!
Liebe Grüße JB
