Fever due to mouth ulcer

Hello!

I've got a really bad mouth ulcer on the inside of my cheek for a few days now. About four days ago, I had a high fever and a burning mouth sensation. I took some paracetamol and went to bed. I went to the dentist the next day for a checkup. She gave me some antibacterial mouthwash to use for 7 days. It was strong and I had the taste of it the whole day. Last night, I started feeling a throbbing pain in one of my back teeth. I woke up this morning with a swollen face, inflamed and swollen gums on the side where the mouth ulcer is and I feel like my neck is swollen, too. Is this caused by the mouth ulcer or could it be something else? I tried rinsing with warm salt water but the pain became more severe on contact. Is it safe to apply heating pad to my cheek? Your inputs are highly appreciated!

Hello,

It is important to know how you got the ulcer. Have you had such ulcers in the past? Your dentist should take a biopsy sample and send it to the lab to see what type of ulcer it is.
The symptoms you have described indicate that the ulcer is causing an acute immune response where cells and plasma are infiltrating to the area to fight with foreign agents and ultimately promote healing.
Please visit a specialist do not try to treat this by yourself. Swellings in the head and neck regions are very serious because severe swelling may compromise your airways.
The dental pain is most likely referred pain from muscles and soft tissue around the inflammation.ulcer that have become swollen thus squeeze the nerves that transmit pain impulses.
In any case your dentist can take a x-ray of the tooth to confirm whether it is healthy or not.
I hope this helps.
