I had an extraction on 3/3 and bone graft for upcoming implant. I was exceriencing a terrible (and noticeable)odor from my mouth. Went back to the periodontal dr who performed procedures. He said there definitely not any infecition and removed the stitches. It is now 20 days since the procedure and my odor is still terrible. The dr gave ne a prescription rinse which I am dilligently using, am doing everything he recommends. I am greatly concerned as I am supposed to have 3 more grafts. HELP!I never experiencing this in my life. I am very embarassed and cannot get past the bad taste in my mouth.

I have done a ton of socket replacement grafts, and have never had a patient complain of a foul odor unless the graft was lost and the hole was vacant. This would be easy for the treating surgeon to detect. So if this has not happened, I really don't have any answers for you. Maybe it is unrelated throat or sinus abnormality.

Thanks. Went to the periodontist, he removed stitches and the odor began to subside. Whie not 100% normal,it has improved greatly. Getting better evey day. Will be returning for removal of teflon (?) and periodontic cleaning.
Thanks again.

Probably silk sutures were used. These are porous, and absorb odors and flavors. Usually it is not noticeable by patients, but in your case it was!
