Enamel damage from ceramic brackets

Dear Doctor,

my daughter recently got her braces removed and is complaining that her front teeth are very sensitive to cold/heat now. It seams like brackets may have damaged the enamel. Is that possible? What do you suggest in this case?

Thank you for your advice.

I have a question also...
i had my braces removed years ago and the molar brackets left a mark. Now 20 years later its starting to become really discolored and there is an indent - is this anything to be worried about?

Hi smileyface,

Yes, it is normal. After taking my braces off, my teeth were sensitive to anything hot and cold for about 10 days. I think it's because the teeth have been under so much pressure for a long time and now, nothing's holding them back.

Hi everyone!

Due to substandard dental hygiene when wearing braces, it can happen that decalcification spots appear in and around the braces.

However, these issues can be easily rectified with fluoridation treatment!
