Dry socket pain for one month

User Level:
Patient
Posted by: loveparrot  (8 years ago)
One month ago, I had an upper molar extracted. Two days later, I developed a dry socket. The dentist packed it with a medicated gauze, which was replaced every other day. The dentist stopped packing it after ten days so it could start healing. One month had passed and I am still in pain. The socket gets irritated when I rinse it out with the syringe that the dentist gave me. What’s going on? I can’t sleep and eat well because of the pain. How long does a dry socket take to heal? Any tips how to deal with the pain? Thank you in advance.

Sometimes these things take a LONG time to heal. Perhaps after only 10 days were no enough. I have had to repack these things for 3 weeks sometimes. My guess is you are an older patient who heals more slowly.

Don't you wish you had saved the tooth now?
