Dry socket

Hello,

Six days ago, I had all my wisdom teeth removed. Two days after the extraction, I developed two dry sockets. The pain was terrible. The oral surgeon packed them with medicated gauze. I was advised to go back every other day to change the packing. I woke up the next day feeling ill. I had a swollen lymph node, which hurt so badly. My throat was also hurting; I couldn’t swallow without feeling pain. I went to our family doctor who said I have infection in my tongue. She gave me antibiotics. My throat is no longer painful but my tongue is still very sore and the extraction site is still aching. How long will the tongue infection and dry socket take to heal? I’ve been unable to eat well since the tooth was extracted. Many thanks.

The dry socket may be separate from the infection. Probably should be placed on antibiotics. It sometimes takes as many as 14 repackings to get a dry socket well.
