Do slightly loose teeth really need root canal treatment?

Hi there!

I had an accident last week and I knocked my two front teeth completely. The other teeth were knocked loose as well. Luckily, the dentist was able to re-implant my two front teeth and he splinted them afterwards.

After two days, I went to see him again for check-up. He pushed my two front teeth up into my gums and that hurt really bad. I almost passed out. After evaluating my other teeth, he said I needed root canal on the two front teeth, on two loose teeth on the upper left side and on the loose tooth on the lower left side. I am very nervous about this. The three teeth are not so loose and are not hurting as well. Should I go to another dentist to see if these teeth really need root canals? What is the chance that my two front teeth will be retained after the root canal treatment? Please help! I am really hoping that all my teeth will be saved. I cannot afford an expensive implant or bridge. :-( Any input would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

This is common problem with re-implanted teeth. When teeth are out of mouth for a time being, many times vital tissue inside your tooth does not reestablished their blood supply and it goes dead. whereas ligament around tooth has great regenerative power and many times establishes firm attachment around tooth. However in order to prevent any infection from dead tissue inside tooth, it is many times necessary to clean out those tissue and do root canal treatment.

Many factores like time teeth were out of mouth, your body response, post treatment care, mobility of teeth at present etc. determines further future of re-implanted tooth.

Hope it will help you!
