Do I need to have a crown put in after root canal treatment?

Dear Doc!

I broke my two front teeth a couple of months ago. I did not do anything about them until lately, they started to ache and I ended up getting root canal treatment. After the procedure, the specialist asked me to come back to have a crown put in. I doubt if I really need this. What is the
crown for? Is it advisable to have a crown put in after root canal treatment? Please advise before I'll make a decision.

Thank you very much!

Its hard to answer your question,it depends on the amount of the tooth loss, age, smile line, and other factors Please consult more than one dentist for their opinion, and always discuss alternatives .

Hi Needmedic!

Yes, get a crown put in. A root canal treated tooth tends to become brittle and the crown will prevent the tooth from cracking.
