Do dental crowns cause bad breath?

Hi everyone,

A root canal was performed on one of my front teeth a year ago. After the procedure, a crown
was fitted on. Recently, I noticed that I have a dry mouth and a bad breath. It's coming from the
gum above the crown. I can even smell it from the floss that I used on the crowned tooth. Does
the crown cause bad breath or is there a decay under the crown that they didn't see during the
root canal treatment? How can I get rid of the bad breath?

Thanks!

Hi there!

I guess it's not the crown but a decay in the remaining tooth structure. See your dentist so he can re-evaluate the tooth. It can also be due to poor cleaning of the area around the crown.

Hello Manymoney,

From my experience, crown do not give odors. Sounds like you need to practice good oral habit. Have a a visit to a periodontist.
