Dental Rubber Bands

So, I got rubber bands for the first time yesterday. Today, my teeth are hurting a lot. The pain medication doesn't seem to be of help. What should I do? Also, my orthodontist showed me how to put them on but he did not mention how often should I change them. Can I use the same ones I put in after I brush in the morning or am I supposed to put new bands in every time I take them out? Any advice would be great!

Hi Detaland!

Try ice cream, it helps in reducing the pain. Change the rubber bands every after meal. It's unsanitary to re-use rubber bands.;-)

Put fresh ones on every time you take them out. Use the rubber bands as often as possible to avoid delaying the treatment. They will only hurt at first but once you get used to them, you'll love how they work on your teeth.:-)
