Constant pain after a root canal

Hello Checkdent Team!

Here is my story. I had an infection in my back molar about five months ago. My dentist put me on antibiotics for a week then he performed a root canal. The pain did not go away after the procedure so I went back to my dentist and he performed three root canals more. This did not send the pain off so I decided to go to another dentist who performed another root canal. This did not help me any further as the pain had become worse. I felt a constant throbbing from the tooth. The pain runs to my sinus and ear. Anyone who can help me with this? Should I go to the ER now?

I would appreciate any advice.

Hello raiza!

Molars normally have 3 root canals. Sounds to me like your tooth has 4 canals, which is not uncommon.

I would search for an endodontologist who is very proficient in microscopy; every missed canal can result in severe issues and pain symptoms.

Best wishes!

Hi Doc,

Thank you for your reply. They said my tooth is fine. They asked me to visit a neurologist for a possible neurological problem. I will be seeing one next week.
