What would be a good recommendation for a 4 year old child as far as when to brush, how long, what type of tooth brush should they use?

Hi cbardywoo!

You should brush your child’s teeth twice a day, using a soft bristled toothbrush.

There is more on the topic of dental hygiene for kids in this article: http://www.checkdent.com/dental-blog/dental-care-for-children.html?lang=en

All the best!

Hello Chardywoo,

Use a tooth brush with soft bristles. Hard bristled toothbrush will irritate the gums. Give him/her a safe and yummy tasting toothpaste.

Electric tooth brush had been a big help for me in brushing my kid's teeth.

I've always found it easier to give my baby cousins and brother the extra soft brush with some cartoon affiliation and played a 2 or so minute song from his favorite tv show every time he brushes his teeth. Seems to work the best for getting them to brush for the full recommended time.
