Caries underneath filling

Hi there!

I went to the dentist today to have my aching filled tooth checked. He performed an X-ray on this tooth and based from the result, there is a very small decay underneath the filling. The dentist recommends drilling the tooth out to remove the decay. I read an article stating that caries can be stopped by a diet with lots of minerals. How true is this? Can you suggest of other ways to arrest the growth of caries without drilling it out?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Painmeds!

I don't think diet can stop dental caries. Once a decay has started,it tends to progress at a greater speed.

Hi there,

There is no home remedy to stop caries from growing. A decay will become bigger and deeper once neglected.
