Bits of calculus have been breaking off of my teeth for two the last two weeks. They look like pebbles and are hard and yellowish to brownish-black in color. You can see from my teeth where they came off. They usually come from the back part of my front and back teeth.
Two years ago, I had a deep cleaning to remove huge amount of calculus on almost all of my teeth. I did not have the chance to visit the dentist again since then because of my busy schedule at work. I have to admit, I was lax with my for the past several years. I never flossed but I brushed my teeth twice a day, never had mouthwash rinse also.
Why is calculus breaking off? I have read somewhere that you need a professional help to remove tartar/calculus but why do mine come off easily? Is it possible that what is breaking off is a part of my tooth? Please help! My dental appointment is in three weeks and I am now very much bothered with this. Thank you in advance!
