Calcium deposits in mouth

User Level:

Hello!

I had braces in the past and I am currently on fixed retainers now. My orthodontist said I have calcium deposits build up in almost all of my teeth especially on my lower front teeth. Some parts are whiter than the other. I have to visit my orthodontist regularly to have them scraped off. Is there any home remedy I can do to keep these deposits from building up on my teeth? This problem bothers me a lot. Please help!

Thanks!

Hi newpatient!

Sounds to me like you are suffering from so-called “white spots”; these are small decalcifications brought on by plaque, not thoroughly brushed away, maybe due to the braces.

These white spots can be very efficiently treated using refluoridisation techniques and microabrasion.

All the best!
Liebe Grüße JB

Hello newpatient!

You should clean the area under the retainer very well. You may want to ask your orthodontist for a removable retainer so you can clean your teeth well.
