My mother is suffering from some kind of mouth disease I think it's called "The burning mouth syndrome" where everything in her mouth burns! such as, tongue, lips and gingiva! no one seems to know the cause of her disease or what she should do to get better! she has lately become allergic to sour milk, cheese and spices! even tomatoes cause her pain. Although, in the past she was never really allergic to any of those! we really don't know what to do! we've visited so many dentists and nobody has a clue about her situation !

see this condition called as burning mouth syndrome occurs in post menopausal women due to hormonal imbalance so basically its not a dental problem , you need to consult a gynaecologist an HRT (hormonal replacement therapy ) is generally adviced in such cases.

Thanks a lot doctor! we have consulted few dentists and nobody really had any idea of the disease ! your suggestion "HRT" makes a lot of sense. Though in my mother's case, she is having a regular period and she is diagnosed with chronic migrane with aura which makes HRT a bit difficult.

Thanks again for your generous help
May God Bless you

see in case she is having regular periods then it may be due to any kind of fungal infection in mouth or xerostomia (dryness of mouth) she can use saliva substitutes for a few days and see if it helps. There are many sugarless lozenges available in the market she can suck them and they also stimulate saliva production in mouth.

Thanks again doctor, however my mother doesn't suffer from any fungal or reduce in salivary flow. she's fully capable of producing a lot of saliva and besides her drinking a lot of water so practically her mouth is hardly ever dry.

Hey salmaK, If you wish to try for some safe herbal ointment I could give you the contact of a herbal company who are reliable and gives good results with their products. Feel free to just discuss with them about your situation and see what they suggest. Hope this helped.
