Broken tooth

User Level:
Patient

I chipped my first molar on the lower right side two days ago. I don’t have the money for a filling or a crown for now, I am jobless and without an insurance. The tooth is not causing any pain. Is there anything I can do to keep the tooth from getting worse until I am able to see the dentist? I avoid chewing on this side of my mouth. This morning, a tiny part of the tooth came off. Please help!! I would be thankful for any tips or suggestions.

Can't really do much except avoid sweets. You never know if it fractured because of decay, or whether it merely fractured via mechanical failure. It might stay quiet for awhile; it may abscess tomorrow. Impossible to say without an x-ray.
