Despite taking great care of my teeth, I still get cavities. I have very soft teeth and they are prone to decaying. Six months ago, I have had one root canal and three crowns. Last week, the crown from the treated tooth fell off. The dentist told me that the post and crown from the canal were broken. He re-cemented the crown and referred me to an orthodontist.
The told me that he found decay underneath the crown. He drilled and cleaned the decay out and put a new post in to replace the broken one. Why would I have a decay unnoticed underneath the crown in just about six months? My regular dentist did not even see it.
Before I left the orthodontist’s office, he said I would need to get an implant or bridge sometime in the future because the crown is not going to hold for very long. Any ideas what happened? Why the new post does not have enough tooth to hold onto now? Did he drill too much in gum? Please advise me! I cannot afford an or a this time. Thank you in advance for any information you could give me.
