Braces or extraction for two front teeth?

Hello!

I am 24 years old and never been to the dentist before because of fear. My front top teeth grow outward and they’re higher than they were supposed to be. Last month, I decided to have this fixed and I went to two dentists for opinions.

One dentist said braces would fix my teeth. The other one said my two front teeth are too for up and braces would not be good because my bone on top will pop out. He suggested having the two teeth removed and replaced them with implants.

Which treatment method should I choose? Please help me come up with a decision. Thank you so much in advance.

Dear,
Have you visited the orthodontists or general dentist? If you haven't visited orthodontist, i would advise you to visit him and take his expert opinion. If I am at your position and if i can fix my front teeth with braces, i wouldn't choose extracting them and placing implant on that site. However, clinical decision require more information before coming to any conclusion. Orthodontist will give you best advise for your case.

Really impossible to tell without seeing models, x-rays, and photos of your mouth. You can pay for a lot of orthodontics with the price of two extractions, implants, and implant crowns. Plus crowns will never look as natural as your natural teeth.

This right here. Make sure you are going to someone who specializes in this.

Also, I don't know if you have looked into what dental implants entail or were told how they work in your visits.

Basically, as it was explained to me, your front teeth will be extracted. This will have to heal. After the area has healed sufficiently, titanium screws will be placed through your gums into your jaw. These need around 6 months of healing time and the metal posts on which crowns etc will be placed will be visible during this time. Then crowns etc can be placed on top of implants.

Because since this is in the front of your mouth, I would highly encourage you to make sure that other, less invasive techniques would not be successful before you embark on implants. If it was me, I would read up and become familiar about both implants and braces, the risks and benefits of both so that you can ask your specialist questions and be more comfortable with your decision, since it is your mouth.

Good luck.

Well unfortunately, this is going to be pretty hard for me to pass an opinion considering there isn't anything I can examine and, for the fact that this is something an orthodontist would have a better grasp on. In any case, I'd suggest you follow a treatment plan that doesn't involve the extraction of your healthy teeth. Good luck!
