Hello! For the past three weeks, my gums have been bleeding when I brush my teeth. They bleed more after I floss my teeth. I also observed that my lips become dry. I don’t know what’s causing this. Is there special toothpaste I can use to cure my gums? Please help! Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello. Bleeding gums is the hallmark sign of gingivitis often called "gum disease." it is the inflammation of your gum tissue that is completely reversible if treated. If left alone it may eventually lead to periodontitis. Your best choice is to schedule an appointment with your dentist and have them perform a cleaning where they remove bacteria, plaque, calculus resulting in faster healing.

You can also use mouth rinses such as Listerine or other product with no alcohol that kill micro-organism that cause gingivitis and when brushing avoid brushing over the gums and aggravating the tissue even more. Always use sift bristled tooth brush. Brush using one way top to bottom strokes. I hope you feel better.
