Bad smell from the crown

Hello everyone,

I got two crowns put on my two top front teeth three months ago. Two weeks later, one of the crowns started smelling horribly. The smell becomes strong after I brush, floss and rinse with mouthwash.

The odor had gotten worse and nothing gets rid of it. The dentist thinks I am allergic to the nickel used in the crown. I also have a gum irritation around that tooth. He will replace the crown. What I can’t understand is that if I am allergic to the crown, why the other one doesn’t give me the same problem? Anyone else with this kind of problem? Thank you in advance for your help.

It does not make sense. People with nickel allergies cannot tolerate much silver jewelry. Food is probably being trapped somewhere.

Firstly try for salt water rinse if you will not feel good then visit an endodontist and let him xray it and check for possible infection seepage and if he does not find anything then see a periodontist to see if a pocket has developed around the tooth or nearby - crowns can sometimes cause them too.

Improper cleaning of dental work as well as teeth will cause nasty smells in your mouth. Get your teeth cleaned, and FLOSS after you brush & after eating food. Keep your tongue cleaned as well.If you do that and you STILL have a bad smell, you might have medical problem that can be diagnosed by the your dentist or doctor.
