I had a porcelain crown placed in my upper front tooth nearly six two months ago. When the permanent crown was put in, my gums swelled and I got little sores throughout my mouth. I also had burning sensation in my mouth. I took Benadryl and it helped a bit. Am I allergic to the crown or to the permanent cement? The temporary crown did not give me any problem before. Please advise! Thank you!

This sounds like a Herpres virus outbreak. Small vessicles appear in the mouth, the gums get red, and it is really painful. Nothing much you can do about it other than wait for 10 to 12 days.
