My husband has a very small mouth. He wants to get a partial replacing 5 teeth. He is afraid he will be gagging with it in his mouth. Has anyone every experienced that?

Hi there,

I have an existing partial plate and about two months ago I had two teeth added to it. It felt weird at first. They made
me gag. My dentist had adjusted them a bit. He cut some of the metal at the back of the palate, that helped with the gag reflex.

Hi there!

I also had a trouble using my partial plate when I first had it. I keep gagging and I had trouble eating with it. My dentist adjusted it. He'll feel some pressure and a little pain but it will eventually go away. There is an adjustment period.

Your husband will eventually get used to it. He'll just have to keep wearing it.
