I have had a temp crown on since 10/2012. Jan 2013 I was supposed to have permanent. He was very threatening & I ran scared (After 6000.00)March 2013 he proved his threatening demeanor by assualting Police, causing bodily etc. like 4 felonies. My crown is in a box. No dentist will take his liability on. My teeth are shifting, my last rotten one is constantly painful & now my eye/sinus is swollen like a gumball. FL is investigating, but I just want my PAID FOR tooth & finish, as I have no back teeth (getting partial) Who will help? Out of all the Dental Assoc. no one will do anything? In Pain in Sarasota, Thank you very much!!!

Boy, you don't tell stories very well. Who was threatening? Your dentist?

If you are talking about your dentist being threatening and arrested, my sympathies. Is any other dentist working at the office? If so, perhaps they can seat your crown. With this much time passed, the crown may or may not fit.

So you have MORE than one issue? An unseated crown AND another tooth that is hurting you?

What was the $6000 supposed to pay for? A crown typically costs no more than $1000. It is not usual to pay a very large sum up front for dental work that has not been completed.

My sympathies to you. The problem right now is finding where the crown is, and obtaining it. Then perhaps you could get another dentist to cement it. It is always sad when a patient gets caught up in a scandal like this. That is why I tell patients their FIRST criterion for selecting a dentist should be honesty, and the second competence. Never, never, never should one select a dentist based on an insurance list.

I wish it were a story! I had 6000.00 of work done (approx 3 root canals 5 crowns) starting 8/2012. My crown was shipped to a new dentist (pres. of local Dental Society) She sent me home w/ my crown in box. Saying " No other dentist would take on liability." I then asked if she could at least do the last root canal & crown, "No" I did do my home work, bought a plan, found a "Private Practice" who accepted it. Thinking it would be better than a "chain denistry". My crown is sitting on my table. FL Medical Quality Assurance seemed to be my only alternative. As first I was denied, as I'm sure people exaggerate. But his own actions 2 months later backed my experience up. He does not go to trial till Sept. I sent everything the Investigator wanted & just rec'd a reply it has been sent to enforcement "Denistry vs Dr.____. From my homework it seems they will/maybe punish him. But I don't even care if he gets punished! I was so close to having a nice smile (help in getting a job & paid 1500.00 cash up front, rest on credit card. All I have had is pain & depression for 8 months now. Thanks for replying
Thanks that is pretty much I've been helped! Also why they have peer reviews, Dental Boards, Assoc. Not 1 Dentist will do anything even if the Dentist is wrong & dangerous. So now I will go to my politicians & they have helped in past with other wrong doings. I hope my tax dollars don't fund any of these organizations AKA Cliques

This is indeed a shocking story and my heart goes out to you. The vast majority of my colleagues are honest and hard-working. However, like any other profession, there are crooks.

In what state did this all happen? Florida? The surprising part is the president of the local dental society would not cement the crown. It could be that the crown was seriously substandard and would do you more harm than good.

If you lived close to me, I would try to help you. The problem is any dentist trying to help you would incur substantial lab fees.

Thanks Doc, I didn't even know she was, until I did some researching. Especially the fact why she couldn't/wouldn't take care of terribly painful tooth on the opposite side? Just have to live day to day! Thank you for your concern!
