4 year old with something hanging from gums

My 4 year old son looked like he had a piece of food on his front tooth. It is purplish and not food at all, but appears to be attached to his gums. The area bled a little from me scraping my finger over it (when I thought it was food), but otherwise doesn't bleed. Neither front tooth is loose, and this "thing" doesn't seem to cause my son any discomfort. He was not fallen (that I know of), and this "thing" was not there yesterday. HELP!! Do I need to take him in to have it looked at?https://www.facebook.com/TaneshaYoung/posts/10153755081129788

I forgot what these things are called. I saw one on a kid. It was a benign tumor of blood vessels that was formed when the gums were traumatized.
At age 4, the child should already be going to a dentist. Bring him in for a look-see.
