Impregum is one of the most accurate and therefore the most widely used casting materials in dentistry.
Using Impregum, a dentist can acquire a very accurate imprint of your teeth, an important requirement for a good denture. Impregum is a two-phase casting material, mixing the two phases is what allows Impregum to harden. The picture shows replacement cartridges for a special mixing device, called a Pentamix. Pentamix is a mixing devide used for Impregum.
Here you can see a dentist coating a transparent spoon with Impregum. The two phases are run through the Pentamix and mixed and discharged homogenously. This mixing is extremely important, as it is the only way for a dental technician to acquire accurate imprints. Although Impregum can also be mixed by hand, the components can never be mixed as thoroughly as when using the Pentamix.
