Removal of the wisdom teeth refers to the surgical removal of a wisdom tooth-also called 8-third molar. Wisdom teeth usually emerge from between the age of 17 and 24 and are the last large grinding teeth at the back of your mouth. In medical terminology, wisdom teeth removal is called R. T. R., or “retained teeth removal.” Wisdom teeth can be extracted under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. Note that some people never grow wisdom teeth but you could grow up to four, one in each back corner of your mouth. Many people fear the wisdom teeth removal procedure.
