Periodontology is the Latin term for the science that deals with the periodontal apparatus. The periodontist is a specialist who is specialized in this subject. Periodontal disease is caused by bacteria & plaque that settles in the teeth & gingiva. Usually an exact examination takes place -the so called periodontal diagnosis. According to the degree of severity, you will have to undergo one or more initial therapies. After the last initial therapy, a waiting time of 8 weeks is normal before beginning to collect the data of the gum -a so called Reevaluation.
