A Ceka anchor also is a special connective element in dental prosthetics. There are a many types of anchor elements, which serve as a connection between denture and remaining dentition. Such anchor elements improve the fit of prosthesis significantly. Attachments, ball anchors and cones all have one thing in common: The anchor tooth, meaning the tooth the prosthesis is fixed onto. This anchor tooth has to resist high pressures during the years, which can eventually lead to the loss of the tooth. Dental implants have changed the field of dental prosthetics completely, now dentures don't have to be fixed onto the own teeth anymore-artificial roots are used instead.
