My wisdom tooth started to come out 4 days ago. I experienced pain and jaw stiffness. I cannot eat well. How long does the pain last?
Dear ngipin!
The pain could last for several days and then you'll be fine.
On the flip side, you could develop an acute abscess depending on how much space is free around the area in question; for example, if a tooth pocket is already available.
Ideally you should find a dentist who specializes in oral surgery!

I had pain for about a week while my wisdom tooth was coming out on the left side. That one was fine, but for my right tooth I had to go see an oral specialist because there were space issues, and ultimately I had to have a wisdom tooth removal!

Thank you Dr. Ioana.
Yes, I did have an abscess and it is bothering me so much. I hope I can find a good oral specialist here in checkdent.com.

Hi Andres! Did they remove yours during your first visit or you had to wait for the swelling to subside? If the dentist tells me I had to undergo wisdom tooth extraction, I wanted it to be done as soon as possible. The pain is so terrible especially while eating. Thanks!

I have an abscess which is at the stage where my wisdom tooth is so painful to touch. Will antibiotics work before the pain gets worse?

Hi sweetsmile,
An abscess is an infection so you do need an antibiotic. You should take the full course or they won't be effective.Good luck:-)

It is very important to take the antibiotics but they will not ease the pain while the infection is still active. You should see a dentist since with wisdom teeth infection may become chronic and cause more trouble down the line.
