Tooth Crack

I had the same problem. One of the dentist in monroeville pa adviced me the same solution also.

No, you could could lose the tooth. That is another option.

If the pulp is indeed dead, you need a root canal plus a crown. If it is not dead, and there is no gum pocket beside the crack, you may be able to only have a crown.

But if nothing is done, the crack will get deeper, and you will lose the tooth.

Hello, It's very unlikely anything went wrong when you had your teeth cleaned. Unless the dental office has an unusual way of doing things the dentist examined your teeth "after" the cleaning and would have noticed anything unusual or wrong with your teeth. "If" however you are seeing something strange like a crack or just a scrape like looking streak on a tooth, the only thing that comes to mind would be that the person who cleaned your teeth may have used an "Ultra-sonic" scaler and held to the surface to long or had it turned up to high and it damaged the enamel.
