Hello there!

For the past three days, I have been having intense pain in the back of my mouth on both the upper and lower left side. It's like on the part where the gums and cheeks connect. Now, my neck is sore and I can't open my mouth all the way. It's very hard for me to eat and to get to sleep as well because of the pain. The pain radiates up to my left ear. I can't see cavity in any of my teeth. I've always had great dental hygiene. I brush, floss and rinse with mouth wash regularly. I visit my dentist twice a year.

Any ideas on what is causing the pain? The right side of my jaw, teeth and mouth don't hurt at all. I am quite worried about this because this has never happened to me before. Please help!

I would be thankful for your answers!

Dear,
There can be several reasons for limited mouth opening and type of pain you described here. One of reason can be pain coming from wisdom teeth or gum tissue around it. Sometimes even with great oral hygiene, it is difficult to keep clean wisdom teeth especially if they are not erupted completely.

Please visit your dentist for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Best!

Could be wisdom teeth eruption. Could be other things. Your dentist will be able to diagnose it with x-rays.
