Hello,

I would wait until the braces are off to have uniform whitening procedure performed on all the teeth. You can consider dental prophylaxis to remove coffee and tea stains and tea stains are considered to be worse than coffee.
Depending on your sensitivity level an in office whitening can achieve remarkably visible results compared to at home whitening products that are less concentrated for safety.
Also try using a straw to avoid bathing all your teeth in coffee straw minimizes the exposure.

Hello all,

I have yellow teeth growing up and I have noticed that they have discolored even more with my braces on. I had my braces put on about ten months ago. I brush my teeth three times a day with whitening toothpaste but it does not seem to give favorable effect. I am also addicted to a tea and coffee but after finishing my drink, I immediately brush my teeth. I also floss two times a day. I hate that the discoloration seems getting worse.

Can I have teeth whitening with my braces on? Has anyone else had it done with his/her braces on? Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Patients like you are confused. Stains on teeth are one thing. The intrinsic color of teeth is another. Stains can be removed using a baking-powder blaster while you have braces, but it is pretty hard to bleach teeth until the brackets are removed. The reason is, no tray can be closely adapted to the teeth when brackets are still on them.
