Sinus like pain after a tooth extraction

Hi Doctor,

I have my molar surgically removed about two weeks ago. When the anesthesia wore off, I began to feel the pain and my face is swollen. I took painkillers and antibiotics. The swelling has gone down and my dentist said I am clear of infection. However, I am still uncomfortable and I feel a sinus like pain over my eyebrow on the same side where the tooth was removed. What could be the reason for this? Any advice please?

Thank you very much!

Hi there!

It could be due to a recurring infection. I recommend seeing your dentist before it gets worse.

Hi everyone!

It could be the infection flaring up again, or the result of a sensitive tooth neck, or even a neighbouring tooth that got damaged during the extraction.

Either way, speculation can only get us so far; ideally you should visit an oral surgeon – s/he will be able to solve your problem!

All the best!
