Pain in my cheek after filling

Ten days ago, my top first molar on each side of my mouth were filled. When the dentist was working on my teeth, I could feel the pain, he had to give me two shots of anesthesia on both sides.

When the numbness wore off, I started to feel pain on my cheeks. It was also swollen and tender. The dentist said to give time for the teeth. Now I could barely open my mouth. My cheeks hurt when I touch them. Does it sound like nerve was hit when the dentist gave me the shot? Thank you very much.

A blood vessel could have busrst releasing blood into the muscle space. This can send the muscles in spasm. The mystery is why your "cheeks" (both sides) are swollen or sore. It could be the msucels are in spasm just from having your mouth open so long. Apply hot packs and massage your muscles while trying to open your mouth. Your dentist can also prescribe muscle relaxants.
