Pain after getting braces tightened, please help!

Good day to all!

I just had my lower braces tightened earlier today and I got a power chain, too because my teeth had moved the past few weeks. Now, I am in so much pain. I can't chew anything either so I have not eaten anything yet. Is there anything I can do to help ease this unbearable pain? What can I eat while the pain is still there? Will I have the power chain until the end of the treatment?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Awww, I am sorry for the pain. I can totally relate.

The pain should settle in a couple of days. Eat soft foods and
keep drinking cold water. Eat ice cream, too. The coldness of these will relieve the pain for a while. Take pain pain relievers.

Just focus of it's result: straight teeth and a beautiful smile!:-)

Hi Coolguy!

It will go away in a couple of days. Take painkilles and try to sleep. Eat soft foods and yes, ice cream helps!

Take pain killers. Eat mashed potatoes, apple sauce or any food that doesn't require chewing. Ice cream helps a lot. It will numb your mouth and it will take some pain away in a while.

i had braces for 9 months now, and it hurt like hell when i got it tightened so what has always worked for me is to eat something cold. My orthodontics even told me to, he encourgaed me to eat ice cream. Ice cream does freeze your mouth for a while maybe even an hour; but remember it doesnt last for a long period of time so just be cautious that you night need advil after it wears off.
