Hi everyone!

I am in my early 20's and every tooth in my mouth is a disaster, the dentist said they all have cavities. Since I was 10 years old, I've always had problem with my teeth. They were always been very sensitive and they were badly crooked. When I was 17 years old, I got braces but I have not completed the treatment because I can't stand the pain and discomfort with the appliances. I never went back to the orthodontist. I tried my best to take care of my teeth but the way they are crooked makes it really hard to clean every corner with a toothbrush and to floss as well. When I noticed a big cavity at the back of one of my front teeth, I visited the dentist. (I never went to the dentist since the time I stopped wearing my braces). She did a root canal. When I got the crown fitted in, I was in a lot of pain. After several visits to have it corrected, nothing good is happening so I finally stopped going to her and decided to go to another dentist.

The new dentist after performing some x-rays said, I have several caries forming on most of my teeth. He wanted to save my teeth through fillings, root canals, braces and veneers. I told him I can't afford all of those dental work. I told him I want to have my teeth extracted and have dentures or implants to replace them. He declined because he wants to save my teeth. The third dentist that I went to told me the same thing. What should I do? My teeth are rotting and I don't have thousands of dollars to save them. Please help!!!

Hello, I am sorry to hear about your dental crisis at such a young age. Keeping our natural teeth is very important. Teeth help with our facial dimension and quality of living. Getting dentures at your age is unreasonable and they won't perform the same functions as your teeth. It will take you a long time to get used to them and since your jaws will undergo constant changes throughout your life you will be replacing dentures as you go. Also putting 28 implants in your mouth will cost you a fortune. How about you try slower less invasive ortho treatment which won't cause severe discomfort. Do anything you can to save your teeth don't give up on them. Use fluoride containing tooth paste (try prescription prevident 5000+), fluoride containing mouthwash and cut back on carbohydrates. I would follow with the recommended restorations to treat the cavities.

im 30 years old and have been going through what your going through since i was 18, they told me the same thing. they want to save your teeth..... because they have bills buddy, dental school doesnt pay for itself,. ive had dentist try everything on me. then when i come back 6 months later and i have decay underneath and around the hundreds of dollars of work they did already they just wanna do a ''deeper, clean and fill job'' always saving the root canal for last. then they try to scare you out of pulling your teeth in fear of ''migration'' of your surviving teeth. ive heard it all and gotten no true answers or solutions. my advice, keep looking till you find a ''practitioner'' (thats what they all are anyways seeing as just like in all medecine you are just a subject for them to practice on) who is willing to give up hundreds of thousands of dollars in future business and benz payments, to just pull those lost causes out of your head and give you some artificial choppers that you will have PAIN FREE for the rest of your life.

oh and yes you will have to get new dentures occasionally, a few hundred bucks every year is less than the taxes you would be paying on the bills these jokers wanna get you for
