Greetings,

You answered the following : http://www.checkdent.com/en/thread/terrified-4-cysts-please-help-2690.html

1. You said & asked ....."PRETTY HARD TO BELIEVE YOU HAVE 4 CYSTS ON FOUR CONSECUTIVE TEETH. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT, BUT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. WAS IT VERIFIED BY A CAT SCAN?".....

The dentist who first identified the cysts took an X-Ray on the chair on the dentist's chamber and according to that X-Ray, I have cysts on my 4 consecutive teeth on my right-upper jaw #1, 2, 3 & 4. Then I showed to another dentist and he prescribed "Adv. X-Ray (OPG)", which I have done yet and will do it soon before I meet him again. Is it bad to happen Cysts on 4 consecutive teeth ? Please tell.

2. ....."YOU ARE WORRYING TOO MUCH. MAX DURATION OF LOCAL ANESTHESIA ON THE UPPER ARCH MIGHT BE AS LONG AS 90 MINUTES, BUT PROBABLY MORE LIKE 60 MINUTES. HE MAY HAVE TO REINJECT LOCAL ANESTHETIC DURING THE PROCEDURE.".....

Can you tell for how much time I can't take food and enough pain-killers pills after the general-anesthesia is over ?

3. ....."IF PAIN RELIEVERS ARE DRIPPED IN THE IV, DURATION WILL BE ALL DURING THE IV AND FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS AFTER THE IV IS TERMINATED.".....

Is the IV like Saline ? Do you think that my doctor will give me pain-killers through IV during the surgery ?

4. ....."GOOD GRIEF, STOP WORRYING. AT THE END OF THE PROCEDURE, YOUR DENTIST CAN NUMB YOU UP AGAIN BEFORE YOU LEAVE.".....

Here in India, it's a standard practice for patients to stay in the hospital for 24 hours more after the surgery, so please tell me what you mean by ....."YOUR DENTIST CAN NUMB YOU UP AGAIN"..... Is it by local anesthasia or by pain-killers ?

5. You said ....."YOU WILL NEED ORAL PAIN MEDS AFTER THE LOCAL AND ANY IV PAIN MEDS WEAR OFF. IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN HAVE A RX FILLED BEFORE THE SURGERY, SO IT WILL BE READY"..... What is "RX" ? Please tell me what you meant by ....."YOU CAN HAVE A RX FILLED BEFORE THE SURGERY, SO IT WILL BE READY"..... ?

Thanks,

Sanjay

Greetings,

1. You said & asked ....."PRETTY HARD TO BELIEVE YOU HAVE 4 CYSTS ON FOUR CONSECUTIVE TEETH. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT, BUT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. WAS IT VERIFIED BY A CAT SCAN?".....

IT WOULD BE STATISTICALLY VERY, VERY, VERY RARE TO HAVE FOUR CONSECUTIVE TEETH WITH FOUR CONSECUTIVE CYSTS.

2. ....."YOU ARE WORRYING TOO MUCH. MAX DURATION OF LOCAL ANESTHESIA ON THE UPPER ARCH MIGHT BE AS LONG AS 90 MINUTES, BUT PROBABLY MORE LIKE 60 MINUTES. HE MAY HAVE TO REINJECT LOCAL ANESTHETIC DURING THE PROCEDURE.".....

YOU CAN EAT AND DRINK ALL YOU WANT AFTER COMING OUT OF ANESTHESIA. AND YOU CAN TAKE PAIN RELIEVERS AS SOON AS YOU HAVE SOMETHING ON YOUR STOMACH.

3. ....."IF PAIN RELIEVERS ARE DRIPPED IN THE IV, DURATION WILL BE ALL DURING THE IV AND FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS AFTER THE IV IS TERMINATED.".....

Is the IV like Saline ? Do you think that my doctor will give me pain-killers through IV during the surgery ?

YES, THE IV WILL BE SALINE. HE COULD GIVE PAIN RELIEVERS IV BUT I SEE LITTLE REASON TO DO IT WITH LOCAL ANESTHETIC INJECTIONS GIVEN. YOU WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT PAIN. IT WILL NOT BE THAT BIG A PROBLEM.

4. ....."GOOD GRIEF, STOP WORRYING.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY DO IN INDIA. TO BE HONEST, I HAVE NOT BEEN IMPRESSED WITH INDIAN DENTISTRY. I ASSUMED YOU WOULD BE GOING HOME AFTER SURGERY. THAT IS WHY I SAID HE COULD NUMB YOU UP AGAIN BEFORE YOU LEFT THE OFFICE.

5. You said ....."YOU WILL NEED ORAL PAIN MEDS AFTER THE LOCAL AND ANY IV PAIN MEDS WEAR OFF. IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN HAVE A RX FILLED BEFORE THE SURGERY, SO IT WILL BE READY"..... What is "RX" ? AN RX IS A PRESCRIPTION FOR A CONTROLLED PAIN RELIEVER. I OFTEN GIVE THE PATIENTS PRESCRIPTIONS FOR PAIN MEDS PRIOR TO THE SURGERY, SO THEY CAN HAVE THEM READY TO TAKE. SERVICE IS VERY POOR AT SOME AMERICAN PHARMACIES. PATIENTS SOMETIMES WAIT 2 HOURS FOR THEIR PRESCRIPTIONS TO BE FILLED. I WANT PATIENT TO HAVE THE PAIN RELIEVERS READY TO TAKE AFTER SURGERY.

Thanks,

Sanjay

Greetings Dr. Henry,

1. I had huge mental depression from 1996 to 2012+ and during this time, I had totally quit brushing my teeth and whenever I had brushed, which is just a few times in this long period, I could see that my teeth had decayed at the joining of the white enamel of the teeth and the gums and later on this decay had become so big that my teeth had broken and the level of those teeth has come to the level of the gum. I have this same decay, followed by teeth breaking prior to 2012 for these 4 teeth, where there has been 4 cysts detected in 2014. Do you think that this is the reason of the 4 consecutive Cysts on 4 consecutive teeth ?

2. As I said above, the 4 teeth along with another adjoining tooth (total 5 consecutive teeth) are being extracted. Do you think that it is safe to extract 5 consecutive teeth at the same session ?

3. You said ....."YOU ARE WORRYING TOO MUCH. MAX DURATION OF LOCAL ANESTHESIA ON THE UPPER ARCH MIGHT BE AS LONG AS 90 MINUTES, BUT PROBABLY MORE LIKE 60 MINUTES.".....

Do you mean that the max duration of the local anesthesia can be of 90 + 60 = 150 minutes ? Or just 90 minutes ?

4. ....."YES, THE IV WILL BE SALINE. HE COULD GIVE PAIN RELIEVERS IV BUT I SEE LITTLE REASON TO DO IT WITH LOCAL ANESTHETIC INJECTIONS GIVEN.".....

The reason for giving both local anesthetic given along with pain-killers, is that : My doctor said that he will take 60 to 90 minutes to complete the surgery. And above you said that the maximum duration of local anesthetic is 90 minutes, so my doctor will have to re-inject local anesthetic again before the first anesthetic wears-off to extend it another 90 minutes and also I will need pain-killers for elongating the duration of this pain-killing to the maximum by local anesthetic & pain-killers, so that I have plenty of time in hand after the surgery is over and I can take "more than enough" pain-killer pills before the previous local anesthetic & pain-killers wears-off. Is this okay ?

5. You said ....."YOU WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT PAIN. IT WILL NOT BE THAT BIG A PROBLEM".....

Please tell what do you mean by "IT WILL NOT BE THAT BIG A PROBLEM" - do you mean that there won't be much pain ? Or the pain isn't the main problem ?

6. You said ....."I ASSUMED YOU WOULD BE GOING HOME AFTER SURGERY. THAT IS WHY I SAID HE COULD NUMB YOU UP AGAIN BEFORE YOU LEFT THE OFFICE.".....

Yes, another numbing is needed even if I don't go home, for the total duration of the first numbing and second numbing has to be as such that I get plenty of time after the surgery to have some food and then have "more than enough" pain-killers. Am I correct ?

6. Can you please tell me, how does it feel inside mouth with and without the tongue moving around inside the mouth after the cyst surgery ?
Do I taste blood ?

Thanks & Awaiting your kind response,

Sanjay

Greetings,

7. How will you rate my Cyst surgery (consider that my 4 consecutive teeth are affected) - minor or medium or major ?

8. How many incisions through the bone will be done ? 1 big or 4 small ? Or anything between 1 and 4 ?

Thanks,

Sanjay

Greetings Dr. Henry,

Sorry for multiple posts on the same thread for not being able to (browser hanging) edit previous post and add whatever I have to write, instead of starting a new post. Sorry.
