I had a periodontal surgery on my bottom left quadrant five days ago. Yesterday, the packing and part of the stitching came out. Today, I am in extreme pain. My gum is receding and the gap and tooth were exposed. I also noticed that it is red and inflamed. Has anyone had similar experience? What should I do to manage the pain until I can see the periodontist? Thank you in advance for any responses.

Rinsing with peroxide will help. Call your periodontist. He may want to put you on antibiotics. You should be seen in the office ASAP. Hard to say what the problem is.
