Broken Molar

A sizable piece of my inferior molar broke off today- my insurance is not accepted where I currently live and I cannot get to my dentist where my parents live (still on their insurance) for another five days. I am concerned my tooth will become infected or painful in the interim. Are there any steps I can take to prevent complications?
